“Gender equality is essential for improvements in humanitarian accountability, and I am delighted to be part of this initiative to move towards a more equitable humanitarian system. Gender equality is a cornerstone of the Core Humanitarian Standard, and the CHS Alliance will work to promote equality at all levels of our work, and among our members, partners and other stakeholders.”
I, Judith F. Greenwood, support the GGC Panel Parity Pledge.
As the Executive Director of the CHS Alliance, I commit to also undertake the following:
- Include in the Core Humanitarian Standard Self-Assessment Tool an aggregated indicator on diversity, ability, age and gender to allow users assessing their performance status on gender.
- Ensure Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is not an issue for women only. At present, few PSEA practitioners are men. We need to encourage and support male aid workers to be peer leaders and role models in countering SEA. To this end, during 2016, the CHS Alliance will mentor two male aid workers to become SEA investigations trainers, and we will promote engagement by men in all our work on PSEA through the year.
