“It is not only essential to strive for gender equity at headquarters, but also to promote it in mine action activities. The GICHD fully supports gender and diversity analysis and programming, which lead to more productive and sustainable mine action activities and, ultimately, to significantly reduced impact of explosive remnants of war and landmines on lives and livelihoods.”
I, Stefano Toscano, support the GGC Panel Parity Pledge.
As the Director for the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), I commit to also undertake the following:
- Work with our partners towards national mine action strategies that mainstream gender and diversity.
- Ensure that all GICHD employees are equipped with gender and diversity competencies and knowledge through regular training, including those organised by the Maison de la Paix Gender and Diversity Hub.
- Mainstream gender and diversity throughout our work using the GICHD Gender and Diversity Policy as a guide and setting new targets each year.
- Build links and draw on the knowledge of partner organisations that have tools and expertise on gender and diversity.
- Strive for gender balance and diverse participation in GICHD trainings and workshops.
